1. In as much detail as possible record the steps it took to complete this project. Start with photographing and end with the editing process in photoshop.
- To start my project I had to get my photos taken, I had a model and without moving the camera with the help of a tripod I took a photo of the person with a prop and then also one just of the background. When putting the images into photoshop I uploaded them in by first opening photoshop, selecting file at the top of my computer and then selecting Scripts. From there I selected "Load files into stack..", Browse, and selected my two photos by pressing shift to select both. Which I had saved onto my computer and finally pressed Open. Once I got the project started I made sure that my model was on the top most layer and began by putting a layer mask onto the top layer. I then used the brush tool to erase parts of the model that I didn't want. I used the black color to conceal Patricia's legs and the stool used in Michelle's photo. After that there was some discoloration in the photo so I used the burn tool to make the two photos better blend together. For an above and beyond step I photoshopped in extra details that pulled the photos together. The very last step I did was save my final photo as a JPEG to then upload it.
2. What are layer masks? How do the differ from just using the eraser tool in photoshop? How might you use them in the future to create more projects in photoshop?
- Layer masks are another way to get rid of and cut out parts of an image. It differs from an eraser because a layer mask is able to take away from an image without destroying it in any way. With an eraser it is difficult to get your photo back and any changes are made more difficult. I might use this in the future to create new and exciting creations that can be given as gifts or even to hang up on my wall.
3. Do you believe your project was (successful/ unsuccessful). Why?
- I believe that my project was successful because I was able to complete both tasks while also adding in extra images and layers. Overall this was a fun project and in glad to have completed it successfully.
4. Based on the learning target, " Practice and demonstrate skills in the manipulation of digital imagery by using photoshop to create a composite image" what level of mastery does your project demonstrate (Exceeds, Meets, Needs Work, minimal understanding). Why do you think?
- Based of the learning target my project demonstrated exceeded mastery because I was able to add extra layers to my photos to further the story that is being told. I made sure that the lighting was in the best possible condition and I inclused all parts of the grading rubric plus the use of extra layers.
