Conclusion Questions
1. In as much detail as possible record the steps it took to create this project in Adobe illustrator. Use complete sentences. Try to recall as many of the different tools, shapes, and keyboard commands as possible.
- First, I added in a new artboard where I would create my final robot. I looked and found a reference photo in the internet. Then I added in different shapes using the shape tools and with the pen tool or curvature pen tool I was able to either make new custom shapes of edit the premade shapes using the shape tool. I used the selection tool to select individually what shapes I want to be moved or made bigger and smaller or also to be able to stop using the shape tool because otherwise it will keep making shapes. When it came to rounding off corners of shapes I uses the selection tool to choose what shape I wanted to edit then using the widgets in the corners of the shapes, I dragged the widget to the middle and depending on how rounded I wanted it to be is how far you move the widget in. Next, to color in the shaped I went to the Fill and Stroke section, the fill is what color you want that shape to be and the Stroke is there to give an outline to your shape. You can turn them off if wanted and I changed the stroke size on some of the shapes. Once I had all the shapes laid out and layered accordingly I added the final detail, shading. There is a gradient option in the fill color, I selected this and edited it to my liking, I also did this for a more metal look. Finally, to finish and transfer my robot I exported the finished project as a PNG.
2. What are vector graphics? How do they differ from raster graphics? Give an example for how you would use each type of graphic?
- Vector graphics are the computer generating shapes with perfectly straight lines and curves with the ability to blow up the image with no signs of pixilation. You would use Vector graphics for things such as company labels. On the other hand, raster graphics are pictures made up of a grid of square pixels that you can see when displayed. Raster images are best for digital photos and print materials.
3. In addition to Raster Vs Vector graphics, what are at least 3 major similarities between and difference between Adobe photoshop and Illustrator?
Similarities:
- The use of layers to separate elements of an image.
- Both use tools such as the pen tool for drawing capabilities.
- The ability to create gradients

Differences:
- Use different graphics (Vector and Raster)
- Illustrator uses mathematical formulas to create and keep lines straight
- With illustrator you can't lose detail changing the size of the image
4. Based on the learning target, (Exceeds, Meets, Needs Work, minimal understanding). Why do you think so?
- Based on the learning target I believe I exceeded expectations because I was able to have my robot be made up of several custom shapes. I added in extra little details and even added on gradient shading to my robot to make it seem more like metal.
